A Few thoughts

So I'm still chugging along pretty slow, but I wanted to make a brief observation/question: what's with the ebonically phoenetic portion? And does anybody else have a hard time reading that stuff?

But I have really hit the part where I'm really liking the book a lot. The robbery part with the Quebecian and the ADA was hilarious. Really clever I thouhgt. That is all.

Are you talking about "Year of the Trial-size Dove Bar" pg. 37 with Wardine? It was a shocking little gem. I'll admit I wasn't expecting a Ebonic jolt, but I LOVE this chapter.

I usually have a horrendous time with stuff like this (namely Huck Finn), but for some reason I didn't struggle so much this time. There were less apostrophes and abbreviated words and it was more telegraphic, where you leave out words or just have a funky syntax.

Anyway, I really liked the last vignette of that chapter, with Mildred Bonk and Bruce Green. It reminds me of a Better than Ezra song, something about...somebody woke me before I had my American Dream. A little Great Gatsby-ish.

I am curious if either of these stories ever pop up again. I assume with 1000+ pages to go, Wardine will turn up, but I'm not so sure about our high school lovers.

Umm, I just ran into another chapter of this street talk stuff. It seems a lot harder this time around. In fact I'm breaking for a little Jane Austen - its a little easier on the brain.
